Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I do a gay or lesbian holiday?Don't ask us, ask our clients! So many of our clients return from a gay or lesbian holiday and say it is the best vacation they have ever had. Why? Because they can relax and be themselves with a welcoming group of like-minded people. Most of the vacations we offer in the "Gay and Lesbian" as well as the "Cruise" sections of the website have been specifically designed with the gay and lesbian traveller in mind. These trips are special because they include unique features like a dinner at a fabulous gay restaurant, an afternoon break at the local gay beach or ports of call popular with gay and lesbian travellers. So why should I book with conxity.com?conxity.com is a fully accredited IATA travel agency and is licensed by the Travel Industry Council of Ontario. Blah, blah, blah…. We could trot out all kinds of other good reasons to book with us (like we're long-standing members of the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association) - but the bottom line is that we are experts in what we do.We're not the "gay" office a large mainstream chain or a lone gay agent in a straight office trying to profit from the pink dollar. Gay and lesbian travel is all we do and we devote much time and energy to keep on top of the latest glbt travel trends and to see and experience the vacation options that would be of interest to you. We also believe in giving back to our community and support events and groups across North America. So… can you say the same thing about the place you booked your last trip? back to top Are all the packages Rainbow High Vacations offers exclusively gay and/or lesbian? Most of the trips on our website are for gay and lesbian travellers. Some trips are exclusively for gay men while others are exclusively for lesbians. Just check the quick facts section of each trip to find out more.We also offer some packages from mainstream tour operators that are of particular interest to gay and lesbian travellers. Most of the people on these packages will be straight, but because of the itinerary or destination, we feel you'll have a great time all the same. But what if I don't want a "gay" holiday and I just want a beach vacation package or a couple of weeks in Europe... does Rainbow High Vacations do those kinds of trips too?We sure do. In fact, most of the trips we arrange are like that. Our website primarily highlights gay and lesbian package vacations so we can show you the range of options that are out there. However, our website also includes a number of mainstream travel options that we know are popular with queer travellers. But we also can help you find destinations, trips or accommodation which aren't necessarily gay but where we know you'll feel comfortable and you'll be welcome. Whether is a vacation of a lifetime or a trip home to introduce your new beau to your parents, we'll get you there! How do I book? We've tried to make it easy for you to book with Rainbow High Vacations. You can use our booking request form or you can call us at 800.387.1240 if you prefer dealing with a live body. And even if you're not ready to book but have questions or would like more information, you can use either way to get in touch with our expert, professional staff. We're not quite there yet, but you will eventually be able to book your trip here on our website. But right now you can book flights on Air Canada or WestJet or purchase travel insurance through our website by using the links from our home page. When should I book? The short answer is… as soon as possible! The maximum number of guests on many trips is quite small – in some cases as few as 10 to 15 people. So when group sizes are this small trips can sell out well in advance of the departure date. Even the cruises (which may have 2,000 to 3,000 guests) are extremely popular and can sell out early – especially if you are looking to book either the most or least expensive cabins. back to top When do I have to pay?All trips require a deposit at the time of booking. The amount of the deposit varies from trip to trip. Each tour company has their own payment schedule but all will require final payment in full anywhere between three months to six weeks prior to your departure date. If you book after the final payment deadline, you must pay for your trip in full at the time of booking.Should I buy insurance?Yes, yes, yes!!! Almost every holiday we offer hits you with some sort of penalty if you have to cancel or re-book, especially if you do so shortly before your holiday is to begin. In many cases your booking may be fully non-refundable, so you will lose all your money. While cancellation insurance won't cover every circumstance, it will protect your vacation investment should you have to cancel because of an emergency. (Just so you know, changing your mind or having a fight with your partner does NOT constitute an "emergency"!) It is usually most economical to purchase package insurance (which includes cancellation insurance) rather than cancellation insurance on its own. Click here to get a quote. Or contact us for more information. I'm travelling alone. Can I still book these trips?Yes, of course! Most trips have a single rate or a single supplement if you are travelling alone. Some companies also offer to match you up with another single traveller so you can avoid the single rate or supplement. This varies from trip to trip, so please ask us for more information.back to top I'm not very "out". Will I still feel comfortable taking one of these trips?Whether you're still in the closet or you've been out for decades, one of the big attractions of these trips is that you will be in a comfortable environment with like minded travelling companions where you will be free to be yourself. Some people like the cruises because it allows them to be more out than they would normally be at home. Other people like some of the other trips simply because being out or not has nothing to do with their enjoyment of the trip. We'll be happy to help you find the trip that best suits what you want out of your holiday.I've heard that the all-gay cruises are really nothing more than floating bathhouses. Is this true?We always get a chuckle when we hear this question! There's no denying that the cruises can be sexy affairs – if you want it to be that way. But most people go on one of these cruises and have a great (but pretty tame) time. Why are some prices in Canadian dollar while others are in US dollars? We want to give you the broadest possible range of gay and lesbian vacation options, so we feature holidays from companies all over the world. Many of these companies are based in the United States and offer prices in US dollars. Similarly, Canadian companies have Canadian dollar prices while some European companies have rates in euros. In most cases you will be charged the price in the currency shown and will be automatically converted into your local currency when it is processed by your credit card company.back to top |
